Events

Numerous events take place throughout the year in Bonn, the city of Beethoven. Due to the pandemic, there may still be some restrictions. We therefore recommend that you inform yourself in advance on the websites of the respective events.

The well-known Weiberfastnacht (February/March) is a highlight of the Rhenish carnival and originates from the Bonn district of Beuel.

In April, the Deutsche Post Marathon, one of the top ten running events in Germany, showcases the diverse sports city of Bonn. Depending on the weather, also in April, countless cherry trees in Bonn’s old town unfold their full flowering splendour (cherry blossom).

The annual Museum Mile Festival at the end of May/beginning of June offers special tours, concerts, activities and a programme for the whole family.

Every year on the first Saturday in May, the traditional Rhine in Flames event offers a fireworks and music spectacle and the enchantment of a landscape.

In summer there are open-air concerts to suit every taste, whether with the Kunst!Rasen concert series or the SWB Summer Festival in Bonn’s Rheinaue.

Every autumn, the Beethovenfest welcomes top international orchestras, important ensembles and prominent soloists. On the second weekend in September, the traditional event Pützchens Markt, considered the Rhineland Oktoberfest, takes place.

From the end of November until Christmas, Bonn’s Christmas market offers culinary delights and handicrafts from all over the world.
